Pafos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Cyprus Chefs Association and Pafos Hoteliers Association Discuss Culinary Heritage Preservation and Gastronomy Tourism Development

On 20 October 2026, the Pafos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) held a constructive meeting with representatives of the Cyprus Chefs Association (CCA) and the Pafos Hoteliers Association, focusing on the preservation and promotion of culinary heritage and the development of wine and gastronomy tourism in the Pafos district.

The meeting took place within the framework of the European project ENOGASTRODEST, in which the Pafos Chamber of Commerce and Industry participates as a key partner. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between culinary professionals, local producers, wineries, restaurants, tourism businesses and other regional stakeholders to promote Pafos as an authentic eno-gastronomic destination.

During the meeting, participants exchanged views on initiatives and actions aimed at preserving traditional Cypriot recipes, promoting local products and indigenous wine varieties, and highlighting the rich gastronomic heritage of the region. Particular emphasis was placed on developing authentic visitor experiences that combine traditional cuisine, local culture, rural tourism and entrepreneurship.

The representatives highlighted the importance of collaboration between professional chefs and the tourism sector in safeguarding culinary traditions, encouraging the use of local ingredients and strengthening the connection between gastronomy and regional identity.

The meeting also included Fivos Filippides, representing the Pafos Hoteliers Association, highlighting the involvement of the local hospitality sector in efforts to connect authentic gastronomic experiences with sustainable tourism development in the region.

The participating organisations recognised the potential for joint promotional activities, educational initiatives and culinary events that could enhance the visibility of Pafos as a distinctive wine and gastronomy tourism destination.

The Pafos Chamber of Commerce and Industry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that preserve local culinary heritage, strengthen regional businesses and contribute to sustainable tourism development.

Through the ENOGASTRODEST project, PCCI continues to promote cooperation with regional and European partners, encouraging knowledge exchange and innovative approaches that enhance Pafos' gastronomic identity and support its long-term tourism competitiveness.
